Investing in yourself
Tanmay Vora
General notion is that when we are at work, we are there to earn. In fact, the other side of the equation is that when we are at work, we are also investing in ourselves as professionals.
In her post “Visibility trumps Hard work“, Astha underlines exactly the same.
“There are tons of executive derailment studies which show that people who rise in organizations based on a limited skill set don’t do so well. When we invest ourselves in a job and work actively to develop ourselves for a better role– we have a much higher chance of actually succeeding when we make it.”
One question that should be a part of performance appraisal process – and then one we should also ask ourselves is “What value has the work added to me as an individual and as a professional?” Work is an opportunity – to learn, grow, add value and be prepared for a better role.
Thanks Astha for that nice post.
