Experiences and Learning on Respecting People Cont..d

Last week, I wrote on my experiences and learning on respecting people.
Here is a snippet from a post “Money Isn’t Everything, RESPECT Is” from T&D Blog that just adds to the subject.
A new AchieveGlobal study finds that employees value respect in the workplace, even more than money and learning and development. And that finding cuts across all generations.
The study aimed to measure the role that generational diversity plays with regard to job performance, work team interaction, and perceived skill sets. What it found was most people want to be respected for the work they do more than rewarded.
Bottomline:
Engaged employees are those who feel that the work they are doing is important and strategic. It’s all about valuing the work they do and being respected for the work they do.
People in an organization mostly deal with their managers – for a lot of them, their immediate manager is the face of the organization. Hence, it is a huge responsibility for a manager to consistently respect the team members and ensure that they value the work they are doing. It also means that managers have to show a bigger picture to the team and how their work fits into a larger picture.
On that note, have a great week ahead!
