Mumbai terror is shocking! Prayers for the ones who lost their lives!

I am feeling really awkward – like many others – to learn about terror strikes at some of the most prominent locations in Mumbai – India’s financial capital. Over 100 killed, 800+ injured and many others held hostage at some of the best five star hotels of India like Taj and Trident (formerly Oberoi).

I am not sure if I can name this emotion as anger, frustration, rage, terror or distortion. But it is sad. And it is equally true.

Innocent people who lost their lives were punished for absolutely no fault of theirs! Terrorists don’t see people as human beings, but as mere instruments/objects to spread fear and panic.

We say Mumbai is resilient and will bounce back. Life soon returns to normalcy after a few days whenever terror strikes anywhere across the globe. One has to move on and be resilient when there is nothing one can really do! Resilience then is not by choice, but merely by force.

My prayers are with families of those innocent people who lost their lives. I pray and hope that these bereaved families find strength and resilience to cope up with their lives.

THIS IS SAD, TERRIBLE AND VERY UNNERVING!

P.S:  I travelled to Mumbai and was at Trident Hotel (Oberoi) to attend a meeting just a day before. I was fortunate to have escaped this horror by just 24 hours – but I am not elated and overwhelmed because I know that many others who lost their lives had no escape route when death came calling! Even those who are held hostage as I write this have no escape route!

Hello,
I am from Bombay (currently based in Bangalore). So many people I know have been affected directly or indirectly. Bombay, this time is shattered. I just spoke to someone and they have lost their family friends (the entire family) at Oberoi-Trident.
I think it is the spirit of Mumbai that gets it down, people take things in their stride. This time, as I have said on my blog, enough is enough.
Mumbai needs to stop working, not try to crawl back to work the next day. It needs to protest, till there are sufficient survelliance cameras in the city, till its police force is adequately armed. It does not need politicians who further try and divide the city, or rather the country on caste, creed, region, religion. Mumbai needs to be strengthened.
Sorry about the outburst, today has been an especially sad day for me.

Your outburst – like most of the other fellow Indians, is very apt and justified. Security state of our country is in a dire state. I had been to Trident and had kept my photo ID, business card etc. handy just in case if I have to produce my identification to hotel authorities before I enter in. But to my utter surprize, there was no one who asked about me, where I came from and why I went there. This just tells me that anyone else can enter these hotels with equal ease!

You are right – the sentiment all around is “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH” and our politicians need to really take a tough stand and initiate some drastic actions. Uninspiring and robotic speeches from our leaders doesn’t console anyone anymore.
